Nokia 5230 Mobile Phone
September 3, 2009
Nokia has launched a new touch-screen with adorable white front panel and different coloured rear panel. Wondering what is so marvellous about it? Then read on… None of the mobile-geeks would be unaware of the one and only Tube Mobile Phone. Yes.. I’m talking about Nokia 5800 Mobile Phone; Well.. 5800 is the “only touch” beauty desired by many gadget-o-maniacs.
Let me stop beating around the bush.. If you rule out the Wi-Fi, and replace a 3.2MP fixed focus camera instead of the rich Carl Zeiss Optics 5MP camera in Nokia 5800 Xpress Music Phone, you will get its latest sib named Nokia 5230 3G Mobile Phone. Similar to 5800, this handset sports the fifth edition Symbian60 OS with an added flip scrolling facility.
Even if it is a resistive touch-screen, the UI of 5320 mobile phone is quite responsive and good to feel. Impressive audio quality is yet another highlight of this handset; the audio performance is great via loudspeaker as well as the headphones. Nokia claimed that this music phone can playback for 33 hours continuously. Amazing, isn’t it?
As I told you, a 3.2MP camera is glued to the rear side of this gadget. It is disappointing that the camera is not up to the expectations; this is definitely not a phone for those who love to snap pics frequently. The best part of this phone is its price. Nokia 5230 3.2MP Camera Phone comes for an affordable price, and competed with the mid-budget touchscreen phones like LG Cookie Mobile Phone, Samsung Star Mobile Phone, etc.

It is told that the camera is beefed up to 5MP compared to the 3.2MP snapper of Nokia 5800 Mobile Phone. No word is leaked about its optics and detailed camera features. It is estimated that 5900 will be a 3G device, as its predecessor sported that functionality. Nokia Teaming Up With Microsoft to Install MS Office on Nokia Phones
August 17, 2009
Boosting up the battle in corporate mobile phone world, Nokia has announced their plans to join hands with the software giant Microsoft to provide the MS Office in Nokia Mobile Phones. The industry watchers speculate this move as a “Win Win” policy for both Nokia and Microsoft. With this deal, Microsoft can add pressure to Google and some other software tycoons who are availing free web based applications for mobile phones. Nokia aims mainly at Apple iPhone and RIM blackberry phones, which are considered as the epitome of business phones.
The duo has revealed that they will start working on this deal with immediate effect. The R&D will be designing, developing and selling the handsets under “Microsoft Office Mobile” brand. Mainly aimed at the business users, this application will be launched initially in the business phone series, Nokia E Series. By making use of the advanced Symbian OS, people will be able to read, create or edit any Word, PowerPoint and Excel document in their Nokia Mobile phone itself. This will be of great help for the business users, as they can store a good amount of frequently accessed info in their mobile phone itself.
It is also told that Nokia will make use of the United Communications platform developed by Microsoft to unite the emails, online conferencing, phone and IM for the corporate users. It is a well known fact that the release of free web based internet and mobile applications by Google has created a bump in the business of most of the software providers. In this juncture, it is also notable that Microsoft has a plan to release the web-based version of Office suite named Office Web Apps along with the launch of Microsoft Office 2010.
Nokia 6700 Classic Mobile Phone
August 2, 2009
As Nokia pulls back one of its hot selling Nokia 6300 Mobile Phone, one may be wondering about the replacement for that chic device. Here comes the answer; Nokia 6700 Classic 3.5G Mobile Phone. 6700 Classic is styled like 6300, and includes additional goodies like 3.5G support, GPS, 5MP camera, etc. This mobile phone mainly focuses the 6300 users who are looking for an upgrade. With decent features like 2.2 inch display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution, this monoblock is also expected to showcase a blasting success like its predecessor. The screen is slightly big compared to 6300, and is designed in such a way to suit all users.
Although, Nokia has included good range of features in this handset, it is disappointing that 6700 Classic is not a smartphone. This Series 40 device offers a good 5MP camera with auto focus and LED flash. Video recording is also possible using this camera at 15fps. Although, the geotagging is not possible in this gizmo, the digital info can be uploaded easily via Flickr and Ovi. This quad-band phone offers GSM support as well as UMTS support. It is sad that Wi-Fi is not included in this device. Since HSDPA gives a maximum download speed of 10Mbps, and HSUPA offers a good upload speed of 2Mbps, when coupled with a laptop or PC, 6700 can play the role of an effective modem.
Usual novelties like bluetooth, good media player, microSD card slot, web browser, etc. are also included in this device. One can access Nokia maps to make use of the GPS applications in Nokia 6700 5MP Camera Phone. However, for utilising advanced applications, one need to subscribe the GPS services. 6700 Classic is heavier compared to its sib. This is a “fingerprint magnet”; so one need to put extra care to keep the phone neat. Lack of standard headphone socket is yet another downside of this device. With an added 26 grams, this mobile phone weighs around 117 grams, and is moulded at 110 x 45 x 11mm. The battery life of this handset is decent with 4 hours talk time on 3G network; standby time of this phone is upto 12 days.
Nokia 6710 Navigator Mobile Phone
July 19, 2009
Navigational phones are the in-trend in mobile phone industry. Following the release of Nuvifone, the navigational phone from the sat-nav expert Garmin, Nokia has announced their peer. Named Nokia 6710 3.5G Navigator Phone, this is the sophisticated version of Nokia 6210 Navigator device released a few months back.
Although, 6710 looks identical to 6210 navigator, the improvisations start right from the screen size. This latest handset comes with a 2.6” QVGA TFT screen that is optimised for the outdoor use. Navigational phones are likely to be used in outdoor frequently. Hence Nokia has incorporated a new technique to make this bright screen cater the needs of users in all ambiance. The light sensor housed in this phone senses the ambient lighting conditions and will adjust the brightness of the screen automatically.
This compact slider phone comes with an extensive range of maps including the regional ones. In this device, built-in maps software is given along the “drive and walk” navigation, compass and traffic information. A soft touch surface and the curvy finish adds richness to this mobile phone. Do not think that this pone comes only with navigational features. An excellent 5MP camera powered by Carl Zeiss optics, auto focus and dual LED flash is too tempting for those who are aligned to photography. Decent media player is also present in this phone to make you tap your legs while travelling.
The maps can be downloaded into the built-in 2GB card easily; moreover 6710 navigator phone can be used as a PND even without a simcard. The accessories for this 3.5G device is amazing, and includes a car holder, speaker phone, etc. Apart from the improvised mapping functionalities and mapping keys, this handset comes with Ovi for a “easy and elegant” syncing between the phone and your personal computer. The full Voice guidance can also be of great use for the users, especially while driving the car.
Other boastful features of Nokia 6710 5MP Camera Phone includes 3D image engine, 2mm DC jack connector, high speed microUSB which can be used for charging, geo tagging, etc. Along with the breath taking features and alluring curvy design, this mobile phone surprises us with its modest price tag as well. It is one of the least expensive navigational device that feasts us with all high-end features and long battery life.
